
Landscaping and Sustainable Mobility - UM6P Rabat Campus
Design of integrated pedestrian ecosystems and multifunctional landscape spaces
Rabat, Morocco – Building on its collaboration with UM6P, Merabe has developed a network of soft mobility routes and interconnected landscaped spaces, enhancing ecological connectivity and sustainable mobility across the university campus.
This complementary project integrates 15 000 m² of bio-sourced pedestrian pathways, permeable smart drainage surfacing, and unified landscape signage. The curved alignments follow natural topography while connecting academic hubs to existing green spaces, creating a cohesive green-blue-gray infrastructure network.
Rabie El Himdaoui, Director at Merabe, explains: «Our approach fused movement ergonomics with landscape ecology. The stabilized earth paths and drainage pavers reduce soil sealing while naturally guiding student flows to key campus zones.»

The project implements a 'living soil' strategy with vegetated substrates between paving units, enabling optimal stormwater infiltration while hosting micro-biodiversity. Tactile guidance systems and recycled material seating complete this vision of environmental inclusivity.
